Zuck, the Libra and the Blockchain

Lybra Association is the not-profit behind the Libra cripto-currency

Mark Zuckerberg has just announced the launch of the new blockchain-powered low-volatility currency called Libra. The project primarly targets 1,7 Bln unbanked persons in the world , and promises for low-costs, easy-to-access money exchanges.

Mastercard, Visa, Paypal, eBay paid 10 Mln US$ (!) each to be a partner in the Initiative, and the project is set to be a huge success.

But what is the Banking Industry doing? Well, Banks are already left behind, waiting for an Amazon Drone delivered coffee to wake them up. They will arrive too, maybe, perhaps in the future.

But the future ready to pass into the present time is the Blockchain one. The success of the Libra will be the success of the underlying technology, the Blockchain. At the end of March 2019, there are already 35 Milion of Blockchain based Bitcoin wallets worldwide (source: statista) . Bitcoin itself is not the most important unless you are a trader. Most important is that Bitcoin today is the seed for the Blockchain and all the related use cases. So today is the time when the Blockchain and the Internet of Value are going to rise.

Governments, corporates, and startups and citizens should invest now time and money in understanding, creating and developing appropriate use cases for a technology that promises a revolution in business models, companies organization, privacy, security and civil rights and democracy overall.

What do you think, will they do it? And you?
